Firstly, from us all at Vertex , we hope that you, your families and staff have all been keeping safe and well during this unique time.
As you know the country is starting to open up again, albeit very slowly, but it’s a move in the right direction and generally this is a positive thing. It will take some time to return to normal, whatever this looks like.
Some industries have been very busy over the past few months. NHS, Health Services, Pharmaceutical, Supply Chain and vital Retail have seen a big increase in demand and have been reaching out for help in increasing their staff numbers.
In IT, those development, managed services and remote support organisations have had to support an initial increase due to setting up “working from home”. Online Media/Content providers have also benefited from this new way of living. But, a lot of organisations have not. We do hope you have not been too badly affected during this time.
What changes are we making to support our customers?
In the past we have been lucky to have held a trustworthy business relationship with many small, medium and large companies across the UK. These relationships have continued throughout the lockdown, albeit with heavily reduced numbers in staff, but we have still been able to do some recruitment for our clients. We have also been working with the customers to streamline their recruitment processes and come up with some very inventive ways of interviewing and on boarding their new recruits.
If our customers have any unfinished projects we have been advising them to take advantage of the current climate for any contractor or permanent hiring, as there are currently a lot of very good experienced applicants currently sat at home looking for work.
We have come up with new ideas for our Recruitment process whilst not being able to work in our office space;
From our initial opening telephone interview, we now conduct Zoom or Teams Interviews. This enables us to get a good feel for the person, their suitability, soft and hard skills.
We also have worked with customers who wish to add a level of vetting with pre-defined questions, these can then be recorded and sent along with the CV prior to the customer interview.
Our clients then conduct their own web-based interview (or they can use our online accounts). Now that everyone is getting used to Web Calls, this is become a lot easier for all parties.
2nd interviews have been conducted again online; this can even be a panel interview. If the candidate is successful, Vertex then manage a recruitment offer, the contracts are sent out for signature (again this can be done virtually) then a visual tour of the offices is the final process.
